How Do I Love Thee?

I love my son…

affection,

appreciation,
attachment,
cherishing,
delight,
enchantment,
enjoyment,
fondness,
relish,
sentiment,
soft spot,
tenderness…

I’m sure I could come up with more, but in all honestly…
I could use every word in our language and it wouldn’t come close to describing how I feel about my children. There aren’t ENOUGH words to describe it, let alone with 100% accuracy. It’s something to be felt, to be experienced to be understood.

Even when I’m frustrated, because I can’t sleep,
Or because I can’t figure out WHY he is crying.
    I love him.
Even when he is a whiny mess,
and NOTHING will satisfy him but to be held.
    I love him.
Even when I’m ready to pull my hair out,
because he’s pulled that book off the shelf…for the hundredth time.
    I love him.
